A study done by the National Low Income Housing Coalition in 2024 revealed that 906,885 renters households in Texas are extremely low income, spending more than 30% of cost on housing and utilities. According to a study done by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2024, a one-person household would have to make at least $22.16 an hour in order to be able to afford housing and other expenses.
